Superman Is Dead : Springs Their Music Passion
This is not about the superhero whose alter ego goes by the name Clark Kent and whose weakness is kryptonite. Bobby Kool (lead vocals, guitar), Eka Rock (bass, back-up vocals), and Jerinx (drums), bounded by their passion for punk music, comprised Superman Is Dead (commonly known as SID).
The band was formed in Bali, Indonesia in 1995 and was considered as the pioneer of the country’s punk music scene. To date, SID has released seven albums, three from independent labels and four from a major record label.
The Band’s Canadian Roots
Though Tom Thacker was known for his involvement in Sum 41 as its lead guitarist, it did not stop him from making music with his other band Gob. Gob, formed in 1993 with Canadian roots, is currently composed of Thacker (lead and back-up vocals, lead guitar), Gabe Mantle (drums, back-up vocals), Theo Goutzinakis (lead and back-up vocals, rhythm guitar), and Steven Fairweather (bass, back-up vocals).
Gob’s most popular songs to date are “Soda,” “Banshee Song,” and “I Hear You Calling.” The band was not only famous for its involvement in movies, music festivals, video games, and TV shows, but also for being nominated twice for Best Video (2000 and 2002) in Juno Awards.

The band is classified under the following genres: alternative rock, pop punk, punk rock, etc. Currently, Fonzie’s lineup includes Hugo Maia (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Joao Marques (drums), Joao “JB” Batista (bass), and David Marques (lead guitar).
The band, by far, is one of the most successful bands who had toured the world more than once to perform in places like USA, Australia, UK, Sweden, Colombia, Italy, Venezuela, Brazil, Czech Republic, and more. Fonzie had shared the limelight with Jimmy Eat World, My Chemical Romance, All American Rejects, Misfits, and more. Moreover, the group’s music was featured in MTV, MCM, NBC, and Fuse TV.
